How to make a warm loggia or balcony? What layer of insulation is needed?

+

In order for you to have real warmth on the loggia, you should make a layer of insulation, for example, from EPS sheets or mineral wool with a vapor barrier. Each material has its pros and cons. But without high-quality glazing with a high-quality double-glazed window, insulation does not make sense. But, for example, with a 100 mm layer of EPS and high-quality work, the door to the balcony, even in bitter frosts, can be left open at all. A warm floor or a convector is installed on the balcony as an exciting heater. In some cases, the loggia does not even require additional heating with such a layer of insulation, since its design provides it with significantly less heat loss than a balcony protruding from the building body.

What cable should be used for electrical installation in a residential area? Can VVG-NG, NYM, PVC be used?

+

At the time of writing, only one cable was approved for installation in residential premises. This is a three-core copper cable VVG-ng-ls, low-smoke and flame retardant. A minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm2 is allowed for socket lines, 1.5 mm2 for lighting, and at least 6 mm2 for a stove.

Which walls cannot be moved or demolished during renovation?

+

In no case should the structure of load-bearing (capital) walls be violated. In the best case, this will lead to a fine and restoration of the structure at your own expense, in the worst case, to weakening of the structure of the entire building and collapse. Almost all work with load-bearing slabs, which are more complex than simple drilling or vertical chasing for wiring, require obtaining permission for redevelopment from supervisory authorities and mandatory work to strengthen the structure.

Which bathtub is better, cast iron, acrylic or steel?

+

Each of them has its pros and cons.

  • Acrylic - a variety of shapes, they are very light, retain heat well, but often there is a problem with the junction of the wall and the bathtub, because a bathtub made of this material tends to sag quite strongly under pressure.
  • Cast iron - retains heat well, no problems with sagging, but are heavy, uniform in shape, and also often have problems with the geometry of the shape, regardless of the country of manufacture.
  • Steel - low price, otherwise, only disadvantages - noisy, poorly retain heat, enamel does not hold well, can be pressed through just like acrylic.

How to soundproof an apartment?

+

Methods of soundproofing an apartment include a set of works:

  • Fastening plasterboard sheets to the surface of the walls and ceiling - a layer of mineral wool, EPS, or other material that reduces the level of external noise is laid between the metal frame and the base surface
  • Arrangement of a floor screed using soundproofing materials, the same EPS

How to properly install wiring in a wooden house?

+

Concealed wiring in a wooden house can only be installed in steel pipes. Corrugated pipes, even made of metal or HDPE pipes, are unacceptable. When installing openly, it is allowed to lay the cable in the open, even without a cable channel, but it is still better to protect the cable from mechanical damage.

Which faucet line is best?

+

Both flexible and rigid hoses can be of different quality and have different characteristics and different service life. If you don’t want to face a flood, don’t use flexible hoses of unknown Chinese manufacture. Rigid hoses can also be of poor quality and can burst. Good flexible hoses, as a rule, have a warranty of about 5 years, after which it is better to replace them. And high-quality rigid hoses have practically no disadvantages, except for a slightly more complicated installation process and a significantly smaller selection of faucets.

Anti-slip bathtub coating, what is it?

+

The name speaks for itself, it is a special layer on the bottom of the bathtub, which is more likely to prevent you from slipping. But its huge disadvantage is that it requires constant cleaning with special means, otherwise the bottom of the bathtub will be a disgusting pattern of dirty spots. It is impossible to remove this layer, so think about whether you really need it.
